|How to reach||By Road-can be accessed from Balrampur & from Bahraich via Bhinga (district headquarter of Sravasti District) to nearest market Sirsia. From this point Sanctuary is about 7 km (no transport is available from Sirsia). Own/Pre-hired taxi should be preferred|
By Rail-Balrampur is the nearest railhead on NER Gorakhpur-Gonda loop line (meter gauge), while Gonda is situated on main NER Railway line and connected to Lucknow & major cities of India
By Air-Amausi Airport- Lucknow 269 km.
The Sanctuary is divided into two parts, viz, East & West. West Suhelwa is 15 km from the east Suhelwa. The Sanctuary was established in 1988 & covers an area of 452.77 km2. Five ranges of the forest make up the core area & two ranges are clubbed together to make the buffer zone of the Sanctuary. Suhelwa is connected with the forest of Mahadevpuri in Nepal. It is one of the habitats of tigers in U.P., which is the main attraction of the Suhelwa Wildlife Sanctuary. According to latest census the Tiger population is estimated to be around 10.
